Cardiff Castle – 2,000 years of history

A Roman Garrison, A Norman Stronghold, A Gothic Fantasy … and Wartime Tunnels during the Second World War

For a great start to your visit, begin at the Interpretation Centre. View the exhibition and watch the film show to introduce you to 2,000 years of history. Then collect a personal audio guide before venturing out to explore the grounds, battlements, wartime tunnels, Norman Keep and spectacular Victorian apartments.

If you wish, you can also join a guided tour of the castle apartments led by one of our expert guides to see the lavish and opulent interiors. Each breathtaking room is rich with murals, stained glass, gilding and superb craftsmanship, created by ‘eccentric genius’ architect William Burges in the 19th century.

Your visit also includes:
•Wartime Tunnels last used as air raid shelters in the Second World War
•Children’s dressing up corner with child-sized costumes
•Firing Line: Cardiff Castle Museum of the Welsh Soldier
