Fly Fishing Hampshire

Learn how to catch a trout on the fly when you go fly fishing in Hampshire! These half day and full day lessons take place on a tranquil in-land lake just off junction 2 of the M27. It’s about as peaceful and idyllic as you can get making it the perfect backdrop for a spot of fly fishing with an expert angler.

Your tutor is Steve Ward. He’s been fishing for decades. He has an expert eye when it comes to reading the waters and he’s fished on rivers lakes and seas all over the country and even the world. He has some impressive personal records including a 16lb 1oz Barbel in the Thames and several 20lb+ carp and pike catches to his name too.

Steve has a Level 1 Award in Coaching Angling from the Angling Trust and loves nothing more than having the chance to impart his knowledge of fishing and wildlife to beginner and novice anglers. All the gear you need to get started is included and no previous fishing experience is needed. And if you’ve never casted off before Steve will spend time with you on the bank practicing the art before you head to the lakeside to fish.

The waters you’ll be fly fishing on with Steve are private lakes near Wellow village. They’re well-maintained and well-stocked with brown and rainbow trout offering an ideal teaching base for those wanting to learn about fishing on the fly. Of course even with an expert angler by your side there’s no guarantee the fish will be biting but you will certainly be giving yourself the best chance possible when you take a lesson with Steve.

On these fly fishing Hampshire experiences a catch and release policy is operated although you can usually take some fish home if you ask. We think you’ll love these quiet lake waters and there’s even a local pub nearby for a nice pint and meal before or after your lesson if you’re on the half day experience. For those on the full day course lunch can be arranged there. All in all a great day’s fishing is in order!
