Fly Fishing in The Pennines

Start your fly fishing journey in the Pennines with top coach and guide Ben Fox. Two of the best trout fisheries in the north of England are available for you to learn the basics of fly fishing (or improve on your skills) in a relaxed and friendly environment with one of the country’s top young anglers.

Fly Guy was set up by ex-England youth international and qualified angling coach Ben Fox. Ben has represented his country at youth level and competed in all aspects of fly fishing successfully and is passionate about passing on his knowledge having taken countless anglers out on these Pennine waters.

Kilnsey Park north of Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales is a wonderful setting for a spot of fly fishing. You’ve got the imposing Kilnsey Crag as your backdrop overlooking this lovely lake. It’s very much a family-friendly sort of place with everything from walking and cycling to pony trekking – and of course a shop and a lovely lakeside cafe too. Ben recommends the trout chowder!

Over in Lancashire Bank House Fisheries is a superb little place. Hidden away in a secluded setting it’s a small lake covering 2 1/2 acres but it is most definitely perfectly formed. Angler numbers are kept low so you won’t feel like you’re casting on top of each other and the wildlife has had over three decades to settle in so it’s a lovely habitat right down to the dozen or so little islands scattered around the water!

Both Pennine lakes have been fished extensively by Ben for competitions and magazine features and he keeps up to date with the latest information to ensure the best day possible for his clients. Whether you go for the crystal-clear waters and impressive back drop of Kilnsey park or the intimate little gem that is Bankhouse you are guaranteed an enjoyable day!

We are offering two and four-hour lessons with Ben and you can choose between the Lancashire and Yorkshire venues for your experience. All the gear you need is provided for you including the Environment Agency rod licence and day fishing ticket. There’s even the option of taking a fish home for tea (at additional cost varies depending on the fishery). Vouchers are for one or two people to fish with Ben together. So go on make a day of it and head to the Pennines for fly fishing fun!
