Fly Fishing North Yorkshire

Fancy a spot of fly fishing in North Yorkshire? Book in for a bit of tranquil fishing time on either the River Swale or the River Tees in Yorkshire and learn the craft of fly fishing from one of England’s finest anglers.

This is fly fishing in North Yorkshire with Stuart Wardle. Stuart who’s a multiple medal-winning Commonwealth fly fisher is an all round top bloke. As one very satisfied previous customer commented: ‘it’s like fishing with your best mate’. A great character with lots of stories to tell anecdotes to share and -more importantly- all the insider knowledge on fly fishing around these parts of North Yorks.

And it’s not just his fly fishing know-how that’s impressive. Stuart knows a thing or two about insects and bugs the water river craft and more. Somehow the fish just seem to jump on the fly when he’s around. Is it pure luck or is it his tried and tested methods that come up with goods? These fly fishing sessions with him at two North Yorkshire locations will reveal all.

As we mentioned you have the choice of fishing with Stuart on the River Swale near the village of Richmond or the River Tees west of Darlington. Both offer a superb setting with that classic North Yorkshire rolling hills backdrop to both beats. You’ll be fishing for trout and grayling in both rivers and with any luck (and thanks to Stuart’s teaching) both will be plentiful.

The range of courses Stuart offers suits every type of fisher from the complete beginner to those with their own gear wanting coaching on how to improve such as the best techniques for different water conditions. All the gear you need is included you’ll just need waders if you’re going in the river but these can be rented from Stuart too.

If you’re on the taster you’ll get two hours in the company of all round fishing guru Stuart then there’s the half day and the full day fly fishing in North Yorkshire too. If you’re on these longer sessions you’ll set up camp and enjoy several hours bankside with Angling Trust qualified Stuart. On the full day you can even bring a picnic to munch in between waiting for the fish to bite.
