Snowdonia from the Air

See the sweeping mountain views around Snowdonia National Park without the hassle of having to hike when you go on a Snowdonia helicopter flight! There’s nothing like seeing Snowdonia from the air for vast vistas and impressive panoramas. These heli tours from Betws-y-Coed are amongst the most thrilling we offer.

We have two different tours for you. There’s the ‘Giants and Waterfalls’ tour that last 15 minutes and the ‘Magic and Mountains’ tour that gives you 30 minutes in the air. In both cases what you’ll see on your fight depends on things like weather and air traffic control but it’s guaranteed to be packed full of wonderful sights.

‘Giants & Waterfalls’ departs from Betws-y-Coed and concentrates on the natural wonders and history of Snowdonia. You might see the Neolithic burial site at Chapel Garmon before passing over Conwy Falls on the Conwy River to see if you can spot the ladders put specially in place to help the leaping salmon fish reach the top. A highlight for many on this 15-minute helicopter tour is soaring over Capel Curig one of Snowdonia’s gem villages. The place is a Mecca for walkers hikers and artists. Even Turner put paintbrush to canvas here to capture the gorgeous valley views.

On the ‘Magic & Mountains’ tour the sightseeing starts from the word go. You’ll see the very best bits of this mountainous region including Snowdon. It’s Wales’s highest peak at 1085m and even if the summit isn’t always clear of cloud the Snowdonia National Park views are spectacular. In amongst forests and waterfalls you could suddenly come across Castle Dolwyddelan standing proud on the hill. This stone-built keep has a very remote and dramatic air about it and is steeped in myths including the legend that Llywelyn the Great was born here.

Having flown right across the heart of Snowdonia National Park your helicopter makes a beeline to a special place on the Welsh coast – Portmeirion Clough William-Ellis’s Italianate village with a starring role in the TV show ‘Prisoner’ – another ‘Magic & Mountains’ tour highlight.

With too many sights to see to describe here you know that whichever Snowdonia helicopter flight you choose there will be a plethora of both natural and man-made wonders to marvel at. We think you’ll agree seeing Snowdonia from the air is truly breathtaking.
