Wine Tours in Cambridgeshire

Explore the vineyard the winery and enjoy wine tasting in Cambridge when you visit Chilford Hall! The vines at this beautifully maintained vineyard have been producing superb wines since 1972 and the wealth of experience that goes into each bottle is evident from the moment you take your first sip.

With over winemaking 20 accolades to its name the vineyard at Cambridge is one of the county’s most popular destinations for wine tasting and sommelier tuition. Keen to keep wine lovers entertained all year round the team offers a variety of packages including summer tasting and tours winter tastings and even wine sampling and afternoon tea together (now that’s what we call a delicious combination!).

Your tour and taste package begins with a welcome over a hot drink. In the summer season you will then head off on the half-mile stroll across the estate to explore where the vines grow before continuing the tour to the winery and tasting house. For winter visitors after a welcome glass of bubbly you head straight into the winery itself where you’ll be able to observe the traditional techniques and methods for producing wine including harvesting the grapes by hand

All tours give you an explanation of how the vines are managed throughout the seasons to produce the sweetest smoothest wines possible as well as learning about the different qualities brought about by varying the fermentation and blending processes. This part of Cambridge boasts a microclimate and the wine you’ll be tasting comes from the abundant vine growth on the sun soaked south-westerly facing slopes of the 18 acre vineyard.

Once the tour is complete you’ll return to the bistro where a wine expert will guide you through identifying the aromas inherent to each grape variety before helping you develop your wine tasting palate through the sampling of the winery’s various award-winning blends. When it comes to tasting the wine produced on this Cambridgeshire estate you’ll remark at how the wines are characterised by a clear flavour fragrant nose firm body and good acidity.

But your grape-filled treat would not be complete without a delicious two-course lunch and coffee at the bistro where (for a small additional cost) you can put your wine knowledge to the test and select a wine to match your meal. If you’re more of a sweet-treat fiend opt for the afternoon tea and tour package.

If our wine tasting in Cambridge isn’t in your local area why not consider one of our other amazing vineyard tours on offer at popular wineries throughout the UK.
