Big voices big names and a big show at the Bedford Park Summer Proms! Put Sunday the 2nd August 2020 in your diary – it’s the day of the 2020 Proms in the Park concert in Bedford Park and we’ve got tickets on sale right now for you to enjoy this summertime outdoor spectacular.
Bedford Park is a superb choice of location for this Summer Proms concert. It’s a lovely municipal park just north of Bedford city centre and a place that’s very much appreciated by visitors. It’s at the heart of the local community with play parks duck lake cricket pitches bowling club football pitches bandstand lovely tree-lined walks and the Victorian Pavilion Cafe.
For one evening only Bedford Park gets transformed into a Proms Park. In the past vocalists such as Lesley Garrett Jeff Stewart Joanna Forest and Daniel Koek have graced this wonderful outdoor stage joining the 70-strong choir to belt out the big pop opera and Proms hits to the delight of the Bedfordshire crowd.
Providing the live Proms music will be the London Gala Orchestra. There’s nothing like hearing all those well-known popular classics being played live by a full band. The strings the wind section the enthusiastic conductor – it’ll all be there for prom-goers.
Then just when you thought it couldn’t get any more atmospheric out there the second half of Proms night is accompanied by a laser spectacular as night falls. And the grand finale of the whole soiree is the stunning fireworks show that’ll light up the skies above Bedford Park to the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from the audience.

Delight in any of a number of picnic concerts at some of England’s finest country house estates for a quintessentially British evening of music entertainments and fireworks. These open-air concerts during the balmy months of July and August are incredibly popular.
Concert goers gather in the grounds to soak up the festival atmosphere and enjoy the classical live music. Beethoven’s ambitious ‘Battle Symphony’ which includes the live firing of 193 cannons as part of the music score percussion gives its name to these Battle Proms concerts filled with soul-stirring music performed by a full orchestra on the purpose-built stage.
Every year the programme features star soloists from the world of music and of course an emotional finale with an impressive fireworks display. The music programme includes a range of classy classics from rousing traditional tunes and flag-waving favourites to moving arias.
As well as the music the battle theme continues at these proms with cavalry displays combining horsemanship with sword skills in a show that pays homage to Napoleonic times. With echoes of national pride and solidarity these concerts also include a Spitfire flying display which is always a crowd pleaser. The concert proper starts in the late afternoon so it’s well worth getting there when the gates open around 4.00pm!
Of course these concerts just wouldn’t be the same without food or some Fizz so why not upgrade your tickets to include the picnic basket option and you’ll be furnished with a tasty spread or the Prosecco option for a bottle of bubbly!
Every year there is a full programme of concerts for you to choose from. The proms organisers support the charity SSAFA the Armed Forces charity so each ticket sold will be helping raise funds too.
