Helicopters Swansea

Fly a helicopter in Swansea! There are 20 30 or 60 minute lessons offered at this well-established helicopter training school in Wales. All sessions include a comprehensive 30 minute ground briefing where you will hear about techniques and safety as well as being able to pose your own questions.

Based at Swansea Airport the company has been here since the early 1990s offering helicopter lessons flights and full training programmes. Originally known as RAF Fairwood Common Swansea Airport Maes Awyer Abertawe in Welsh is now a flourishing civil airport with an interesting mix of activities on site. Having a 1350m long concrete runway as well as an 857m asphalt runway means the airport is capable of handling all sorts of aircraft not just helicopters.

On arrival you will be met and greeted by team. There are several fully qualified instructor pilots here including Captain Pat Newton who is head of training. They will all be only too pleased to be taking you for your inaugural flying session in one of the school’s Robinson R22 helis – and don’t forget the time in the air you clock today will count towards getting your helicopter licence too.

To fly a helicopter in Swansea is a real joy as the airport is situated just west of the city on the beautiful Gower coastline. Although you’ll be ‘at the controls’ for much of your time in the chopper you are sure to want to make the most of the views below too as you might very well pass over Mumbles Point Three Cliffs Cefn Sidan and Whiteford Point Lighthouse – all stunning from the air.
