Give those grumpy teens something to smile about with a kids 4×4 experience in Scotland! Junior off road heroes will adore this outdoor centre near the little village of Gartmore – it’s where all the serious off roading action takes place!
No need to swot for a theory test and no need to impress your driving examiner to pass your test to be able to take part in one of these junior 4×4 sessions. In fact who cares about licences and L plates when youngsters are more than welcome to bust some off road moves at this Gartmore centre that’s well away from the public roads on a farm estate?
What we love most about this set up near the picturesque village of Gartmore is the instruction that’s included on every experience. Most kiddies attending will have never even driven before so some time is spent learning about clutch control and gears if it’s a manual transmission 4×4 that’s being used on that day. This Scottish operator also uses automatic off roaders too which means teaching is more geared to vehicle control and steering.
As you might suspect for a 4×4 driving centre in the heart of Scotland’s lowlands it can rain a fair bit. But rather than putting a dampener on the proceedings soggy squishy mud all around just makes the whole experience even more fun. We have to say the kids really do love it when it’s mud-splashes-up-to-the-door-handles kind of conditions. Just make sure they’re not wearing their best designer white trainers when they arrive for their drive!
To start off these junior sessions the expert off road instructor hosting the day will take the kids out in the 4×4 on a recce so everyone can see the sort of terrain they will be tackling. Then it’s over to the future generation of motorists to show us what they’ve got. Bumping and bouncing around all over the shop being jostled and jolted as you climb then hanging on for dear life during the big drop descents this is what junior 4x4ing in Scotland is all about and what this purpose-built course was made for!
