Horse Riding Break Hampshire for Two

Horse Riding Break Hampshire for Two

Make a weekend of it on horseback with our special horse riding experiences that include accommodation for two and rides out! Enjoy the slower pace of life as you spend a couple of days on a weekday or weekend break riding horses having a trot about and generally loving the peace and quiet of Hampshire’s New Forest.

These breaks include one or two nights in a double room at Bashley House. This guest house is merely metres away from the stables and run by the same family. It’s also on the southern edge of the forest and just a short walk from the ‘local’ Rising Sun Inn a must for hearty local meals and refreshing drinks during your weekend of exploring the area and riding around on your horse.

Your trusty steed will be waiting for you ready to head off on the local trails. As well as the accommodation these weekend packages include a choice of riding slots. On the one night breaks you can choose between one or two hacks that last two hours whilst the extended two night break comes with two riding sessions for you both. And it doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced rider or have never been on a horse before every hack and trail will be tailored to your ability in the saddle. The first 10 minutes of your riding experience are spent in training to settle horse and rider.

Talking of horse saddles two styles of riding are offered on these experience weekends namely Western and traditional English. In general beginners feel more comfortable on the Western-style set up and the treks are kept to walking or jogging pace on easy paths but if you are at ease on your horse and happy on an English saddle rides can be at a walk and trot and on more challenging forest routes. There are no gallops or jumps on any routes.

What we love about this type of overnight horse riding experience is that they are open to riders from 12 years old making them the ideal weekend break away for young horse riding fans and adults alike. You also get a real feel of the countryside and forests around the stables as you are guided on all rides giving you plenty of time to see the sights of this most lovely part of the country so canter down to Hampshire and enjoy a weekend with these lovely horses and ponies!

Overnight Polo Break for Two

Overnight Polo Break for Two

Pack a bag you’re going to lovely Leadenham on an overnight polo break for two! Your destination for this midweek short break is the Polo Club at Leadenham a sleepy little village in the heart of Lincolnshire. Over the two days you’ll be learning and having lots of fun playing polo.

James Reeve who grew up in the area created this charming polo club. A lot was invested to ensure the polo field is of the highest possible quality (and when you see the perfectly manicured turf you’ll see what we mean) making it a great club. Along with colleagues Rob and Lydia this venue is run as a polo club polo school and events venue.

You’ll be a guest in the Manor House the Grade II listed stone-built traditional farmhouse in the heart of the estate which offers homely and comfortable accommodation to pupils enrolled on the two day polo course. Breakfast is included as is a BBQ on your full day of polo training. There are also several country pubs in the vicinity for evening meals.

But back to the polo. These courses are designed for those who have no polo experience as well as appealing to those who are already confident on a horse. You’ll be taught all the skills you need to strike the polo ball the necessary horse riding techniques and how to play. We have to say the Argentinian ponies are all super responsive and totally unflappable and before long you’ll be cantering with confidence.

Having enjoyed a full day of training you’ll be able to make the most of the  tennis court the croquet lawn and (best of all!) the outdoor hot tub at the Manor House. All a great way to relax after a day in the saddle. After your breakfast the next day there’s one more session out on the polo field where you’ll get to grips with playing a mini polo match. It’s exciting energetic and superb fun all with a friendly atmosphere.

An overnight polo break at this wonderful equestrian centre in picturesque Lincolnshire village is a great break away with a difference – and remember no polo or horse riding experience is needed!

Wine Tasting Break for Two Gloucestershire

Wine Tasting Break for Two Gloucestershire

Soak up those sunset views of the vines on a Three Choirs vineyard break for two! Spend a night at one of England’s leading vineyards in the Cotswolds. Superb views in a peaceful setting combine with a wine tasting and tour for a fabulous break away for two on a room with breakfast basis.

Three Choirs is one of the largest and oldest vineyards in the country. Already really popular with visitors the winery team was always being asked about accommodation at Three Choirs. Time and time again visitors were saying that they’d love to stay – so that’s what the owners have done!

Described as a ‘restaurant with rooms’ rather than a hotel the Three Choirs vineyard welcomes guests to stay in the heart of this unique winery setting. There a just eight rooms and each one offers a balcony with gorgeous views out over the rows and rows of vines. Very comfortably furnished with all the modern amenities you could wish for it’s a great place to spend the night.

And of course you’re right on site ready for discovering the world of wine. Once you’ve checked in and made yourself at home for your midweek break it’s time to get exploring Three Choirs. We can highly recommend an afternoon stroll in and around the vines along the vineyard trail with nature and wildlife at every turn. Wander through glorious natural habitats where flora and fauna thrive. See if you can spot the nesting boxes for the hedgehogs or the teeny ones for the ladybirds. Continue your very pleasant walk past the ponds and the stream and you might well encounter foxes owls rabbits and badgers too.

Back at the winery it’s the perfect time to embark on your wine tasting at the ‘Cellar Door’. Here you’ll learn all about the wine that’s made at Three Choirs – and it really is very good. We think it’s the perfect prelude to a dinner in the Brasserie which is open in the evening should you wish to book a table for the evening of your stay.

All done at a very leisurely pace we think this Three Choirs vineyard break is just great. The idea of relaxing at a vineyard drinking wine and learning about how it’s made without having to think about heading off back home that same day is a real bonus. It means you make the most of your accommodation in the most wonderful setting accompanied by lots of delicious wine!
