Hoo Farm near Telford is home to a whole host of animals from furry mammals to scaly reptiles. They all very much have their own characters habits and things they like to do. The keepers know their animals really well so they’ll be able to tell you all about them during the visit.

Things start off pretty scaley and slippery in the reptile house. Who you get to meet in here depends on the day but you might be introduced to the likes of Mojo the Burmese Python or the resident Reticulated Python. Then there’s the Giant Tortoise and Monitor Lizard who looks like a miniature dinosaur.

The cute factor steps up a notch when you visit the hedgehog enclosure. Kids will be shown how to handle the hedgehogs (which can be done even if they are spiky!) and may meet the Tenrecs too. These are long-nosed little mammals from Madagascar who love to sleep.

Time for a bit of feeding next as those lovely Lemurs are always hungry. The Lemur Forest is home to several Lemurs easily recognisable with their long ringed tails grey coats white bib and ‘panda’ eyes.

A highlight for many of the youngsters on this zookeeper experience is meeting the Meerkats. These adorable creatures live in clans looking out for and protecting each other. Getting up close to them and hearing loads of fascinating facts about them is a real treat and a great way to finish the junior zookeeper experience at Shropshire’s favourite farm park.

This really is a fab event where children get to find out just what it takes to be a secret agent spy! The junior spy camp experience is packed full of hands on spy activities that will test little ones both mentally and physically. And after a few hours of intense James Bond-style action they’re sure to be tired but very happy!

These secret agent spy experiences start with code breaking as their diffusing skills are put to the test too. The pressure is on as the clock ticks away. Is it the red or the blue wire? Crack it with seconds to spare or will time run out? This is every teen’s chance to save the universe as beads of sweat start to form on their foreheads…oh the pressure!

After that crazy mental conundrum it’s the laser challenge session which will literally light up their enthusiasm. Stealth and agility are needed in bucket loads to get past the laser beam maze and crack the safe. One false move and the alarms will be triggered. It’s going to be intense right until the very end to see if the kids can conquer those lasers.

These junior spy days continue with a sniper rifle and gun session which includes a ‘pistol’ draw competition to find out who amongst the gathering of young spies is the hot-shot of the pack. Don’t worry there’s no danger little ones will be in the line of ‘fire’ it’s all about the speed and technique on the draw. Youngsters will love getting to play the role of a covert operative at the sniper range learning how to hit the target from afar.

After all that shoot-em-up fun these junior spy days finish with a look at the essential skills of lighting a fire and shelter building. After all courageous young spys never know when it might come in handy! A spy camp certificate will be presented at the end of the course to show little ones that they have made the grade as a junior top secret agent spy.

Just for kids this zoo keeper experience lets little ones spend a morning working with the zoo keeping team at Millets Farm in Oxfordshire helping with all the daily tasks. If you know a youngster who loves animals they’ll love this!

Millets Farm isn’t your usual zoo. That’s because the residents you’ll be meeting are all classed as exotic animals with reptiles and furry creatures all featuring. The furry friends include ferrets a family of gorgeous Meerkats a pair of very cheeky skunks called Renee and Pepe and even a raccoon called Rocket. They are all brilliant fun and totally fascinating to watch. And as well as getting to see them at close quarters from inside their enclosure young zoo keepers on this experience may also get to help with feeding too.

Over in the heated room it’s the scaly reptilian corner. Basking in the warmth you’ll find there’s everything from a Red Rump Tarantula and hissing cockroaches to Iguanas and Rat Snakes. Kids are totally mesmerised by reptiles (and indeed its the adults who are often less keen on meeting the snakes and cockroaches!) and with the zoo keeper hosting the experience young ones will be able to ask all the questions they want and even be shown how to correctly handle these superb creatures.

And talking of scaredy-cat grown ups this junior zoo keeper experience is actually for one youngster and their accompanying adult making it great value. Of course the day is geared towards showing kids what being a zoo keeper is like but it’s really good that Mum or Dad can tag along too to observe the activities.

Shotguns air rifles and bows and arrows – this is the fun shooting day your youngsters just can’t miss! Our Junior Targets Taster will have your little ones trying out clay pigeon shooting air rifle shooting and archery all in one super exciting session at this centre in Bedfordshire. This experience has been specially devised and is only available for under 18s.

Your juniors will spend around two hours on site and after a meet and greet from the staff each child will be kitted out with all the equipment and safety gear they need for a fun and safe day out. All instructors at the well-equipped venue are experts in their fields and have the patience and enthusiasm to encourage kids to give these field sports a go and enjoy themselves.

First up is clay pigeon shooting. The juniors will be using specially adapted shotguns for their smaller frames that are easy to fire at the clays. They’ll receive tips on how to hit the clays and plenty of chances to shoot. Then they move on to air rifle practice where the youngsters will shoot pellets at different types of target from round bullseyes to rats (metal rather than real ones of course!).

Archery then follows. This always creates the most laughs as the kids really get into it learning how to load up and draw the bow and then release the arrow to try and hit the bullseye. Archery isn’t just for adults – more and more children are taking up the sport (as every kid loves the Hunger Games don’t they?) so this could be the start of something big!

Throughout this trio of activities safety is of paramount importance and all coaches and instructors are fully qualified and trained to be able to host children’s groups at the centre. The venue is a well-established family-run shooting club in fact it’s one of the largest around and has professional staff and an excellent safety record.
