Jetbike Experience

Jetbike Experience

This is a real speed demon and water lover’s delight as you get to ride a brilliant sit-down jet bike. You’ll be powering over the water on your jetbike at a lake just off junction 11 of the M4 at Reading in Berkshire. If you’ve never been on one of these machines before they’re pretty exhilarating and a great adrenaline rush!

Learning to ride a jetbike has got to be a water lover’s dream and the ones here in Reading are all sit down models which makes them pretty easy to learn to ride – and surprisingly they are relatively stable too. Mind you don’t be fooled – as soon as you open the throttle you’re away quicker than you can say ‘Where are the brakes?’.

If it’s your very first time and you’re feeling a little nervous one of the instructors will be there to guide you through the whole procedure. You’ll receive a safety briefing and be shown the course on the lake. When you take to the water your instructor will sit on the back during your initial lap to keep an eye on your driving ability. Although they are pretty easy to handle you do need to know the basics to be able to ride out on the water solo. /

Once you’ve got the hang of it it’s time to go it alone to really see what these Personal Water Craft can do. You’ll find they’re responsive and handle beautifully on the corners giving you the confidence to skim across the water at speed around the course marked out with buoys.

There will be other jetbike riders out on this Reading lake at the same as you making the experience even more of an adventure. It’s not a race but having the challenge of ygoing around the markers makes it great fun as you bounce along the spray hitting your face as you ride those waves.

With all that excitement out on the lake you’ll probably want to relax afterwards and what better way to do that than chilling out on one of the many seating areas around the lake? This Jet Biking centre near Reading offers great facilities for all the family with onsite snacks and refreshments and even a wonderful bar and grill where you can sit on the balcony and watch the fun on the water during the summer months. An excellent choice for a day out in Reading.

These sessions on a jet ski in Dorset operate out of Poole – the second largest natural harbour in the world. Whether you are a novice or experienced rider this experience offers a top class ride around the Dorset coastline. Even before you hit the water you will have a safety briefing where key skills are taught by a fully qualified Personal Water Craft Instructor.

Then it’s time to launch on your personal watercraft. You will start out in the calmer waters of this harbourside where you can skim across the relatively smooth and sheltered waters at speed and learn the basics of how to drive these thrilling and agile craft.

When you feel confident that the powerful jet ski is under your control it’s time to head out to sea where you can really open up the throttle in the clear coastal waters. Here’s where the jet ski safari starts proper. You’ll be speeding over the waves with up to three other jet skiers including one instructor who is on hand all the time.

You will be riding the very latest Sea Doo GTI 4-Tec SE sit down model and the tour will last around one hour. These are award-winning craft that are easy and stable to ride making them popular on inland lakes and the open seas. These machines have a possible top speed of more than 50mph – but they may be limited to a lower depending on the conditions and skill level of riders.

Heading west from Poole your safari will take you past spectacular chalk Old Harry Rocks at Studland and giving you views of the Jurassic Coast an area rich in dinosaur and other fossils that stretches to Lyme Regis in Dorset and then on to Exmouth in Devon. You won’t have time to see it all of course but this fabulous experience will give you an unforgettable and thrilling view of the coast from the sea all whilst riding your own jet ski!

The aim of the personal watercraft course is to make you self-sufficient out on the water on a jetski. The syllabus covers things like launching handling and craft recovery skills. There’s useful info on passage planning and decision making out on the water. You’ll cover high and low speed riding skills in a hands-on way explore essential safety info and practice collision avoidance skills. You will also touch on navigation skills essential if you take your jetski out on the sea.

If you successfully complete the day course you will be issued with a certificate of proficiency accredited by the RYA (it’s the Royal Yachting Association that oversees all boating and qualifications in the UK). Jetskiing Dumfries

Jetskiing Dumfries

When you jet ski in Scotland it’s pretty special. This Loch in Dumfries and Galloway is a classic example of how much fun jet skiing can be. Clear and fresh-flowing waters stunning mountainous backdrops and a friendly welcome mean it’s a great place for all forms of watersports.

Measuring in at over 100 acres there’s plenty of room for all sorts of powered watercraft on Loch Auchenreoch too. It’s a busy slipway here with jet skiers and flyboarders all making the most of these Scottish inland waters. This operator runs with a fleet of Yamaha Waverunner XVs the machines that revolutionised the personal watercraft market and the best selling jetski series ever.

These powerful and cleaner running four-stroke jet skis are the sit down models. That means they are really easy to ride. A push of the ignition and the craft starts. After that it’s a case of holding onto the handlebars and using the pull throttle to control your speed. There are no brakes it’s all about applying and lifting off the gas.

All this along with a full water user safety briefing will be explained to you on the loch side by a member of the jet ski team at this Scotland base before you launch. They’ll stay with you to ensure you’re happy and confident at the controls (these jet skis seat two so an instructor can ride out with you if needs be) and once they give you the OK you’ll be free to ride.

Free to explore to whizz up and down start practicing those tight turns and generally have a real hoot on your Yamaha as you run the waves. These jetskis are agile yet surprisingly comfortable and on a fast straight run are very stable too. Basically they are really really enjoyable and you don’t need to be a watersport motorbike or boating enthusiast to ride one.

As well as the quality craft and assured tuition we think the setting for these jet skis in Scotland is a real bonus. You can totally make a day of it here and with The Inn at the Loch serving food on a lovely terrace overlooking the water it’s just a lovely place to hang out. And if you stay until the sun goes down you might just be treated to a spectacular sunset to round off your day of jet skiing near Dumfries.

Jetski Cornwall

Jetski Cornwall

When it comes to hiring a jet ski in Cornwall this company’s bases are the most impressive for sure! The main centre is at the wonderfully named Lusty Glaze cove with the second hire centre at the lovely Carlyon Bay on the coast from Saint Austell!

Even the guys who run these jet ski centres say they are ‘living the dream’ in Cornwall and how right they are. We have never seen such idyllic places to jet ski from. Tucked away from the more commercial Cornish beaches Lusty Glaze and Carlyon are the ideal launch spots for either just going for a blast on a jet ski or exploring the north or south Cornwall coastlines on a safari.

Lusty Glaze on the north coast is a private beach surrounded by 135ft-high cliffs. It’s very sheltered so the calmer waters are ideal for those going out on a jet ski for the first time. Having said that you will have to negotiate over 100 steps to reach this little corner of paradise but boy is it worth it. As well as jet skiing there are high wires banana boats and a lovely restaurant that always earns rave reviews.

On the south coast of Cornwall it’s a similar story at Carlyon Beach. It’s a private beach accessed by a slope or a fairly steep set of steps. The water is extremely clear and flat like a mill pond making it perfect for jet skiing. This is the satellite centre that runs during the summer season with Lusty Glaze being the main base.

And as for where you go on your jet ski we think heading out on the open waters around these stunning parts of Cornwall can’t be beaten. Much more varied than in-land lake jet skiing it’s no surprise this operator offers safaris. If you choose the standard or ultimate safari you’ll head out with a guide on their own jet ski leading you as you tour the Cornish coast discovering coves cliff tops caves and lighthouses that you can’t even reach on foot yet alone by car. You might even find one of the local dolphin pods pops up to swim alongside you!

So if you fancy having some fun blasting around and making waves on a jet ski in Cornwall go for the taster sessions. If you’d like to make the most of the power and see the sights book yourself onto either the 50 minute or 1.5 hour safari.
