First Drive in Oxfordshire

First Drive in Oxfordshire

Introduce youngsters to the art of car handling on this First Drive in Oxfordshire! Combining beautiful scenery with a purpose-built circuit on which to take your first steps to driving success this truly is a motoring match made in heaven.

The friendly and relaxed team at the track near Bicester has plenty of experience coaching mini motorists and tailor each junior driving session to suit the individual. With a minimum age limit of just 10 this is a great first drive opportunity for Oxfordshire’s young locals and visitors alike!

Each experience lasts approximately two hours. After a welcome meeting and briefing hosted by this Oxfordshire team the first drive on the track is actually as a passenger on a demo lap with the instructor driving. Then it’s over to the junior drivers who will be coached in basic theory whilst they are at the wheel. Each youngster will be assessed by the instructor and the course then adapted to build and improve upon their initial skills.

The Oxfordshire course offers first time drives for all abilities with a full half hour of time in the driving seat for each participant. When your little racer isn’t at the pedals they’ll be a passenger picking up tips from the other young drivers in their group.

If you want to bump up the adrenaline dose the First Drive Plus experience follows the same fundamental format but includes a high speed passenger ride on the track to round off the day showing enthusiastic youngsters just how fast these little cars can go. For the full motoring works the First Drive Exclusive session here in Oxfordshire is a private experience lasting two whole hours to be taken alone or shared amongst a group of friends.

By the end of their first drive around Oxfordshire each pupil should be able to pull away smoothly steer correctly and stop safely. If they are progressing well they may also get to practice gear changing using mirrors positioning the car and even reversing!

This makes for a splendidly speedy gift for any young girl or boy with an interest in cars driving and developing new skills. It’s a fun day out for friends and family and a proud moment for parents as their little motor monsters eat up the track like professional drivers. If you think you know a little racer who’d love to take their first drive at Oxfordshire’s secluded circuit then put your foot on the gas and get booking!

Young Driver Experience Edinburgh

Young Driver Experience Edinburgh

Calling all young drivers in Edinburgh! If you’re aged between 12 and 16 years this is your chance to get a head start in driving. We are offering junior first-time driving experiences for teens at Ingliston circuit.

Youngsters just love the idea of being able to actually drive a real car before they can legally do so. These first-time driving experiences allow teens to do just that – in complete safety. The sessions all take place well away from public roads and are hosted by specialist Advanced Driving Instructors.

Ingliston Circuit on the outskirts of Edinburgh is a great place to learn to drive. It’s located within the Royal Highland Centre and just a tyre-skid away from Edinburgh Airport. Ingliston stopped hosting motor racing events in 1995 (after having seen the likes of Scottish legends Jackie Stewart and David Coulthard race there) but is now a really popular driving experience venue.

Your teenage drivers will be tackling the Teen Track a specially coned-out track that’s just for kids. It’s a really cool layout that includes things like roundabouts and junctions so little ones can get a feel of what it’s like to drive for real.

This Edinburgh young driver programme uses small city cars such as the Vauxhall Adam for these experiences. All cars are dual-control so junior drivers will never be out of control even if there are a couple of stalls or a bit of kangarooing going on!

With the instructor sitting alongside in the front passenger seat they’ll be giving encouragement and directions to make sure your little one gets the most out of their time behind the wheel. It might be a bit nerve-wracking for them at first but there’s no denying it’s pretty cool being able to drive!

After the welcome and safety briefing kids will be out in the cars for around 15 minutes. By the end of experience they’ll have a decent idea about car control and have a basic understanding of the rules of the road. Do you know a young driver in Edinburgh who’d be up for this? Welcome to the Under 17 Motorsport Academy! On this experience youngsters are able to have a go at driving an MX-5 in a safe controlled environment. It’s all about building up confidence in a relaxed and fun way away from the public roads to give your kids a head start in motoring.

These sessions are open to children aged between 11 and 16 years old with a minimum height of 4ft 8” (so they can reach the pedals). The car used for these under 17 experiences is a bit of a legend in motorsport circles: the MX-5.

This little Japanese two-seater is a sporty number with both soft tops and coupés available. They are particularly lively on the track and there have been many motorsport race series featuring the MX-5. These models are all dual-controlled so both student and instructor have the power to control this nippy motor.

The programme for the session includes a short welcome and briefing before heading out into the awaiting car. Under the guidance of the highly-skilled instructor the kids will be encouraged to get to grips with this MX-5 on the dedicated academy training area. After practicing the teens will be encouraged to execute a few moves to show off their skills.

Accompanying Mums and Dads are welcome to watch from the pit-lane and we’re sure you will be bursting with pride as your little one gets the Mazda moving smoothly around the arena. The car used for these Porsche Academies is the Boxster. This is the two seater convertible Porsche and it is a total blast to drive. We have to say Porsche has got that ‘fun in a small package’ thing all wrapped up with this car.

Of course the kids won’t just be jumping in to the Porsche and heading off into the sunset on their own the whole idea of this academy is that they’ll be taught some skills as well as having fun. An instructor will be in the passenger seat and all cars are dual-control so everything proceeds in a safe and controlled way.

Using the dedicated Academy track area the youngsters will put the Porsche through its paces. After a quick practice students will be asked to perform a series of activities checking driver skill and ability.

A few tense minutes of waiting whilst the instructor completes the Academy assessment and hopefully your little one will be proudly waving their licence at you as they climb out of the Porsche to greet you with a huge grin on their face.

Holders of this licence can then go on to book further experiences driving even more powerful supercars with the same operator driving flat out!
