London might be getting a new £40 million state-of-the-art inland surfing spot

Hey bro, wanna catch some sweet, sweet waves? Well, now you might be able to save on that costly flight to Cali and experience some top-level surf a little closer to home.

How? Because Edmonton’s Lee Valley Regional Park is currently in talks to open The Wave: a new, state-of-the-art inland surfing destination, costing a cool £40 million. Featuring Wavegarden Cove technology (which definitely sounds pretty legit from here), it would generate up to 1,000 waves an hour, stretching to heights of 2 metres.

Aiming to cater for newbies and surf pros alike, if planning permission is granted then it’ll be the second Wave spot to land on UK shores after the launch of the Bristol venue next year.

So get ready to squish up to some surfboards on your next Overground journey – north London could be getting wet and wild.
