Not every pub has to be perfect, some just have to give you what you need. Often this is simply offering something that’s hard to find elsewhere — something the Tiger in Camberwell has in spades. One of London’s great downfalls is its tendency to shut down between 11 pm and 12 pm. There are clubs and bars, yes, but not pubs.
The Tiger plays by its own rules though, staying open until three on the weekends meaning you can call it a night when you actually want to. Another great strength is its provision of a genuinely cheap pint. A jar of Volden won’t set you back more than £3.50 and while its other beers are priced more in line with utterly eye-watering costs found across the city, to have a late night and a cheap night in the same place really is a treat.
Couple that with a decent little fairy-lit beer yard, a fair range of drinks and a strong old-school aesthetic, the Tiger is a must for those looking to have a party in Camberwell.
