The Classic Afternoon Tea at Corinthia Hotel London

Regular readers will know of my love for Corinthia Hotel London with my most recent trips being the Valentine’s Day preview and our family Christmas lunch. But there’s a few changes a foot at the modern Westminster gem including a brand new afternoon tea.
Taking a table in the utterly elegant Crystal Moon Lounge I met up with fellow Instagrammers, Jess, Charlotte and Tom and after admiring the beautiful Baccarat flutes we decided they looked rather empty and would be much better filled with Laurent-Perrier rosé.
These gorgeous flutes are actually created by the same people who made the distinctive moon chandelier that proudly hangs above the lounge. There is so much attention to  detail here even the crockery is specially commissioned bone china that has been hand-painted by Richard Brendon in a gorgeous contemporary style.
As we listened to the Disney tunes from the live piano music we tucked into our classic finger sandwiches. Cucumber, radish and cream cheese on white bread and egg mayo truffle and watercress on Spinach Bread were the veggie options. I loved the London smoked salmon, gherkins, capers and crème fraiche sandwich and regular readers will remember be meeting the chef here for a smoked salmon carving lesson.

Tandoori chicken, green apple and raisin on white bread and roast Beef, caramelized onion and wholegrain mustard with rocket salad on granary bread would definitely satisfy those looking for a more meaty filling.

Scones, both plain and raisin are served in this gorgeous white box and a selection of jams including rhubarb and tonka are served along with Cornish clotted cream.
My mango tea complimented the scones perfectly. All teas are bespoke blends and the hotel even has an in-house tea master.
Pastries are served from this gorgeous vintage tea trolley. There’s even a retro jar of marshmallows which are served along side your cake choices.
Pastries include the chocolate peanut sphere, rhubarb and strawberry tartlet, exotic fruit baba, Irish coffee éclair and lemon and rose drizzle cake. Something for everyone particularly those with a very sweet tooth.

I’ve been to lots of afternoon teas in London and sometimes the classics really are the best. A big thank you to the Corinthia Hotel London for the fantastic hospitality.
