Chuku’s – North London Nigerian tapas

On a busy North London High Road, Chuku’s stylish exterior stands out and I couldn’t resist visiting them after following them on Instagram for so long. The first time I visited this restaurant it was Nigerian independence weekend and the owners of the restaurant are wonderfully proud of their heritage and keen to tell you about their amazing culture and invite you to “Chop, Chat and Chill”.

The atmosphere is always lively and friendly with great music, the menu consists of sharing plates – I wasn’t familiar with most of the dishes on the menu but the staff were great at explaining what the dishes were and how many to get. A few favourites of mine were the Jollof Quinoa – deliciously light, smokey tasty – the Caramel Kuli Kuli Chicken Wings – get sticky, this is a great mix of sweet and savoury with salted caramel and spiced peanuts – and their Egusi Bowl, which is Cassava dumplings in 3 different coloured stews.

The drinks menu is simple but great with some good house wines, Nigerian Beers and Palm Wine, I’ll be back to review their cocktails at some point but I’m sure they’re amazing.

Great vibes and great food – be sure to check if they have any upcoming events too, we caught the end of one of their book readings and it was a brilliant atmosphere.
