Fitzrovia is a small atmospheric neighbourhood in Central London lined with offices, cafes, bars, and restaurants which I was lucky to work in for quite some time. This gave me the opportunity to scout some of the best coffee places. The Penny Drop definitely ranks up the top on my list. It is a small cafe with a very cosy and minimalistic interior which also has that true neighbourhood feel that cafes in Central London often lack.
There are a lot of things to love about it, of course, the coffee being amongst them. The team at the Penny Drop are real coffee geeks in the best possible sense of the word and go to great lengths sourcing some of the best coffee beans out there (apparently not so easy after Brexit). Add to some of the top beans the passion and knowledge of the baristas and you know that what you get in your cup will be top quality.
While making good coffee is essential, what I think is even more important is the attention to the customers and how they feel when they get in your shop and this is something Penny Drop really excels at. Everyone is super friendly and easy going which makes going to Penny drop for my afternoon coffee always feel like a real breather no matter how busy or stressful the day is!
