Italo Delicatessen – Quiet oasis in noisy Vauxhall

Italo isn’t something you’d expect so close to the roar and noise of the major south London arteries of Harlyford and South Lambeth Roads. Don’t let this fool you though because down Vauxhall Grove, in the private quiet of forest-like Bonnington Square, an oasis awaits — cafe-come-deli, Italo.

With a keen eye on activism and social justice, this friendly spot invites you to take a seat, sample some great food, buy some groceries, and maybe even learn about a cause or challenge injustice while you’re there.

With a focus on Italian, shock, this neighbourhood corner spot keeps you on your toes with a regularly changing menu and an appreciation that the basics, like coffee, have to be done right. In winter this is a cosy bolthole to grip your brew and take some time for yourself but come summer and this joint really comes into its own.

The people of Bonnington Square really know how to foster a vibe with leafy exotic plants spraying scattered shadows as you sit and eat. When the weather is hot not only is a hang outside of Italo insanely tasty and wholesome, but it’s an ideal place to rest your weary legs and get out of the sun for a bit.
