I’ve always been a huge fan of boutique hotels and I’ve got a gorgeous one to recommend to you! The Queensberry Hotel is bijou perfection in the centre of the city of Bath, the ideal place for a gourmet getaway that’s baby-friendly too! Located just a few minutes walk from the Circus and the famous Royal Crescent, The Queensberry is the perfect based to explore the historic city!
Theresa has become my travel buddy and now we have little Noah along for the ride too! Fortunately, she lives near Bath so The Queensberry was the perfect meeting point.
Conceived by husband and wife team Laurence and Helen Beere, who have a combined fifty years in the hotel industry, The Queensberry is the perfect blend of gorgeous design with service that is immaculate yet friendly.
The hotel is spread across four Georgian townhouses which gives the inside a quirky architectural structure, originally commissioned as a residential home the 8th Marquess of Queensberry he also leant the hotel his name! Residents are welcomed into a cosy lounge on the ground floor with a roaring fire and complimentary Jing tea and Nespresso coffee available at all hours.
Adjacent to the lounge is The Old Q Bar which is well stocked with spirits and offers a full cocktail list. We enjoyed a glass of rose there before dinner! There’s also a bright little courtyard, perfect for a summer drink!
We were excited to see our room, one of 29, all individually designed in a Georgian style but with modern flair. We absolutely loved our deluxe pink room especially the gorgeous wallpaper and the bathroom with freestanding bath is just gorgeous!
A cot had been set up for little Noah with a toy duck and baby-friendly bathroom amenities.
Downstairs is the hotel’s restaurant, The Olive Tree, the only Michelin star restaurant in Bath and the absolute jewel in the crown of the Queensberry. The Olive Tree welcomes children at 6.30 pm and 6.45 pm for dinner and anytime for lunch and we were lucky enough that baby Noah slept in his pram the whole time! There’s a menu for under 12s and they provided us with a high chair when Noah was ready for his food.
Chef Chris Cleghorn is at the helm of The Olive Tree. Having been mentored by Michael Caines at Gidleigh Park, holder of 2 Michelin Stars, Chris Cleghorn brings a wealth of experience to the table.
At The Olive Tree guests can choose a tasting menu of four, six or nine courses – we conservatively opted for the six! A canapé of tacos kicked us before launching into the six courses with paired wines. Each course was explained by a member of the kitchen staff which was a lovely and personalised touch.
We started with chalk stream trout with wasabi, radish and Granny Smith apple.
Next was Jerusalem artichoke with Exmoor caviar, Piemonte Hazelnuts and maple syrup followed freshly baked bread with Ivy House farm butter.
Isle of Skye Langoustine cooked over Binchotan, fermented carrot, Tahitian vanilla, lime and lovage.
Sharpham Park Farm spelt with black winter truffle (our favourite course).
Cornbury Park Fallow Deer with salt-aged beetroot.
Islands Chocolate with cocoa nib, Manni olive oil and Pedro Ximenez.
Breakfast back at The Olive Tree was the perfect way to start the next day before a walk around beautiful Bath. 
We loved our stay at The Queensberry and Noah did too!
