Right across the road from Five Miles, in the same hidden industrial estate, is Craving Coffee, which marks the entrance to the Mill Co. Project – a social enterprise providing workshops and studios for independent artists and other creative types. This café is a favourite of mine. It lends itself perfectly to sipping a coffee while cracking on with some all-important life admin. Unlike some London spots, here laptops are welcome and they offer both Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets. If you don’t come to work, don’t worry – they also serve delicious beers on tap and make gourmet cocktails.
Every weekend a different food vendor takes over the kitchen meaning that their weekend menus are varied – anything from Venezuelan street food to waffle evenings. A highlight of mine was the Chinese vegan (Vnited x Tot & Ham). Perhaps the most special thing about this place is the atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the surroundings calm – an ideal spot to pass a couple of hours.
