The Wellcome Collection is both a museum and a library that explores the connections between medicine, life and art. The Wellcome Collection’s exhibitions explore a wide range of topics related to health and medicine. Their permanent exhibition Being Human explores what it means to be human in the 21st century. It is really thought-provoking and every time I visit I find something new to reflect on.
They have just launched a new temporary exhibition called Milk which I am quite excited to see. It explores our relationship with it and its place in politics and society and it’s on until the end of September 2023.
Even though the exhibitions are great I have to confess sometimes I’ll go to the Wellcome Collection for a different reason – their Reading room! It’s a free space, a mix between a gallery and a library. It’s split into different zones with books on a wide range of topics and lots of places to sit and read or do some work on your laptop. They even have beanbags spread on the staircase at the far end of the room which you can sit on and get lost in your book.
Lastly, on the ground level, you’ll find the cafe and the shop, where you can grab a bite to eat or buy one of the interesting books on sale.
