L’Azur at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane

A few weeks ago I took a flying visit to Nice for lunch, I felt the sun on my skin, drank champagne and ate delicious Mediterranean food, but it was over all too quickly… and in the evening I was back at Luton airport as if it was all a dream… Fortunately Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane have bought the Côte d’Azur a little closer to home with their new pop-up terrace bar L’Azur.

Decked out in the theme of a yacht L’Azur gives you all the luxury and style of the South of France – all that’s missing is the sea (but don’t worry you can sun tan). The terrace is just outside the hotel restaurant and is clad in blue and white giving you all the nautical vibes of being out on deck!
The signature champagne at L’Azur is Dom Pérignon, and could you really get much more luxurious than a glass of DP! I was joined for the day by Binny and Emma and happily toasted the launch of this beautiful new bar.
Chef Romuald Feger’s has created a menu of ‘Les Petites Bouchées’ or finger food to go with the theme. We ordered up courgette flowers, mini veal burgers and pan bagnat tuna sandwiches. The latter is a popular sandwich in the South of France, classically using leftovers from a Salade Niçoise, and something often taken to school by children.
After our champagne we opted for a L’Azur Spritz, the Four Seasons take on the traditional Aperol Spritz – it has champagne in it rather than prosecco.
The signature spirit at the bar is Belvedere vodka and you can get you caffeine hit with a Belvedere Espress, made from Belvedere Vodka, coffee liqueur and cold-press coffee.
We couldn’t resist ordering a Salade Niçoise, one of my favourite dishes and one salad that actually originated in Nice. The eggs were cooked just right and the tuna was rare in the middle, a perfect light dish for a summer day. We paired the salad with fougasse, a type of bread associated with Provence, and olives and dip.
Finishing up on a sweet note of brioche filled with vanilla cream, our time on the terrace passed all too quickly but I will definitely be coming back with Mr S in tow!
